INTERNATIONAL
PEACE & HUMANITY DAY
Worldwide Initiative to Safeguard Humanity
Our Vision
We envision a world where people of all cultures, beliefs, and nations live in peace, harmony, and mutual respect.
At San Diego-WISH, we believe that lasting peace begins with understanding—of ourselves and of one another. Our vision is to nurture a global culture where diversity is embraced, compassion is practiced, and the dignity of every individual is honored.
Our Mission
San Diego-WISH is committed to creating a safer, more compassionate world for future generations.
Through education, intercultural exchange, and community engagement, we empower individuals—especially youth and families—to live in harmony with themselves and others. Inspired by the healing and friendship between the United States and Japan after WWII, we use real-world examples of reconciliation to teach the power of empathy, cooperation, and shared humanity.
What We Do
San Diego-WISH is a 501(c)(3) nonprofit dedicated to peace-building through education and connection.
We design programs that inspire children, youth, and adults to respect and embrace diverse cultures, beliefs, and values. Our work spans from classrooms to global forums—offering seminars, workshops, performances, and our signature events: the International Peace & Humanity Day World Peace Wishing Ceremony and the Floating of Paper Lanterns. We also support future peacebuilders through educational outreach and plan to launch scholarships for students from underrepresented backgrounds.
Whether fostering dialogue among peers or building bridges between nations, we help people discover how to coexist, collaborate, and care—for themselves, their communities, and the world.
Team
Programs
SD-WISH creates programs that inspire reflection, build understanding, and strengthen the bonds between communities. Rooted in the lessons of Hiroshima and Nagasaki, our initiatives bring people together to honor the past, uplift one another in the present, and empower the next generation to shape a more peaceful future. Through education, cultural exchange, youth engagement, and community partnerships, we work year-round to turn remembrance into action and compassion into lasting impact.
